Field design of the model includes wide
bunds all around, a pond connected with trenches on two sides and guarded
outlet, suitable for adoption in rainfed lowland ecosystem of East and
South-Eastern Coastal plain and North Eastern Coastal plain
Area Requirement
for the model:
One-hectare area
Enterprise
and area allotment: Allocation of 65% for
main rice field, 20% for bunds and 15% for pond refuge and trenches with
intervention of 10 goats (Black Bengal
Breeds), 50 ducks (Khakhi
Campbell), 50 poultry birds (Vanraj,
Black rock), 4 honey bee boxes on the pond dyke and growing of 400 beds
of mushrooms (Straw and Oyster)
on pond dyke by using the paddy straw in one-hectare area. Suitable
rice varieties: Varshadhan,
Durga, CR Dhan 505/500. Suitable fish species: Catla, Rohu, Mrigal, Common Carp,
Silver Carp, Fresh Water Prawn (M. rosenbergii. Suitable agro forestry trees: Acacia mangium, A. auriculiformis
