UMBLACHERY

Found mostly on districts of Tamilnadu (Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam) and also known as other names as Jathi madu, Mottai madu, Molai madu, Therkathimadu. This breed has white marks below the hocks. The calves are red or brown in color with whitemarks on face, limbs and tail. Used for ploughing wet land because they are expected to have great strength and look sturdy. The horns of this cattle breed are removed as a peculiar practice.
