Rice crop calendar for North western plateau zone
- Rice being the major food crop of the region grown
in three distinct season i.eautum
(bialidhan), winter (saraddhan)
and summer (daluadhan) under
different ecologies.
- Autum rice is mostly confined to upland and short duration varieties having 80 to 95 days’ duration (Kalinga III, Khandagiri, Parijat and Sidhanta) are recommended for rainfed upland whereas CR-Dhan 100 and CR Dhan 101 can safely grow in irrigated upland.
- Medium duration varieties like Bina dhan 11, Naveen, MTU 1001, CR Dhan 310, CR Dhan 303 and Konark are suitable for both rainfed and irrigated medium land. Hybrids like Ajaya and Rajalaxmi are promising under irrigated medium land.
- Long duration
varieties Mahanadi, Indravati, Dharitri and Sarala are cultivated in lowlands.
Satabdi, Binadhan 11, MTU 1001 are suitable for summer season.
