Medium range forecast is most useful for farmers as it provides enough window for the farmers to take the suitable decision about many agricultural operations such as sowing seeds of weather-sensitive high yielding varieties, need-based application of fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides, planning irrigation and harvesting based on the anticipated weather changes. The current level of accuracy of 70% needs to be further improved for the effective planning of modern agricultural practices.
