Feed management
· Adequate water and nutrient rich food is
prerequisite to maintain high yielding capacity and make them resistant to
diseases.
Therefore,
the cattle are fed with high fiber
food like roughage and with proteins and nutrients.

Micronutrients are also included in the
food for the cattle for promoting high output.

Cereal grains, greens, hay and straw are
most common feed for the cattle.
·
The Greens fodder (alfalfa,
Timothy, clover) improve the milk producing capacity.
·
Dairy cow needs 5 liters of water to
produce 1 liter of milk on an average.
· Different types of dietary feed ingredients for dairy cows and buffaloes contain concentrates such as compound cattle feed, oil cakes, grains and their byproducts like brans and chunnies; cultivated green fodders and grasses; crop residues like straws and stovers.
Apart from the above listed items, fodder is also provided to the cattles.
Formulation of the ration is also required to nourish the cattle and make them resistant against various diseases.
