drought (August 1 to September 15) causes reduced growth at the vegetative
stage, if the drought occurs at the early reproductive stage, the yield is
affected adversely. Panicle initiation to flowering is the most susceptible stage,
a drastic reduction in yield even crop failure may happen if drought occurs at
this stage.
