Ideal temperature should be maintained between 20-30^oC. Relative humidity should be kept around 70-75%. The light requirement is 400 watt/m². It is believed that red lateritic soil is best suitable for Gerbera cultivation. Highly porous and well-drained soil is considered better for the growth and development of plants. The pH level of the soil has to be maintained around 5.5 to 6.5. The salinity level (EC) of the soil should not exceed 1 mS/cm. The roots of the plant can penetrate to a depth of 50-70 cm and so soil selection is an important factor in Gerbera cultivation. Soil should be properly mixed with FYM in the ratio 2: 1.
