Tape Worm
An internal helminth parasite found in the intestine of the
birds. Symptoms due to its infection are anemia, weakness of the legs, lameness
and occasional diarrhoea. It is fatal in young chicks but the adults survive
with weak health. Treatment can be done by adding wormicide in drinking water
(one pound dissolved in one gallon of water). Beutainorate (150 mg. capsule)
can also be given to the birds. Preventive measures are general improvement in
sanitary conditions and regular spraying of insecticides on the droppings.
