Gully plugging
Gullies are formed because
of inappropriate land use and formed as a result of severe soil erosion. Gully
plugging is built to prevent erosion and to settle sediments. A gully plug is a
small earthen/stone dam constructed at one or more locations along the gully.
Excess runoff is delivered to the downstream channel by a drop inlet structure.
These structures are cost-effective as they can use locally available
materials.
