Specific management
1. Adult flies are more attracted to standing water, hence by draining the water at 3-4 days intervals during the first 30 days after transplanting reduces egg lying.
2. Covering the water surface with Azolla and Salvinia molesta
prevents rice whorl maggot infestation.
