Phosphocompost and Vermicompost
Phosphocompost: To enrich the compost with phosphorus, an insoluble source of phosphorus is added to the compost. During the composting process, the microbial activity solubilizes the phosphorus and enriches the compost. Phospho- compost contains 1.5-2.0% N, 2.0-3.0% P with C: N ratio 16-18.Phospho-compost is prepared in kuccha or reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structure where the composting process is carried out. Waste material like FYM, poultry manure, pig manure, or goat manure is dumped in the structure and mixed properly with rock phosphate. Simply, rock phosphate + raw animal waste + water is used to prepare enriched phospho-compost. Generally, in this process, rock phosphate is used @ 5 to 10% depending upon the availability.
