Shiitake mushroom
Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula
edodes) grown on sterilized sawdust
and wood chips mixture of hard wood trees has an optimum temperature requirement for
spawn running (25-28°C). An average spawning period is about 80 days. A cold water shock treatment is required to kick-start the fructification process. Cropping necessitates a temperature range of 22-26°C, humidity of 80-85 percent, diffused light, and adequate ventilation for the best results. 110-120 day whole cycle for growing a crop. Potential biological efficacy ranges from 50-100%. Shelf life is two to three days at 25-30°C and ten to twelve days at 4°C.
