Animal feed
In India, paddy straw is used as fodder since time immemorial. In
eastern part of the country, it is the traditionally most popular form of dry
biomass which is given to animals after they are chaffed and then mixed with
green fodder or as basal diet at animal sheds. In Punjab, Haryana and western
Uttar Pradesh, rice straw is used mostly as basal diet. Different machines are
now available to utilise the rice residue as animal feed. Some of the important
animal feed materials obtained from rice straw after the different treatments
and modifications.
