Paddy straw mushroom
Paddy straw mushroom (Volvariella sps) is the third most important
cultivated mushroom in the world and well known for its pleasant flavor and
taste. It grows at relatively high
temperature and under favorable growing conditions completes its life cycle
within 4-5 weeks’ time and are commonly cultivated in Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal. Paddy straw mushroom can use wide range of
cellulosic materials and the C: N ratio of 40-60 with a high temperature
requirement (26°C-30°C) for mycelium development and (34-37°C)for
fructification.
