Rice
A mixed population of grasses, sedges along with
broadleaved and aquatic weeds is dominating rice fields depending on prevailing
agro-climatic conditions, soil types, water management, crop establishment
practices, weed seed bank in soil and cropping system adopted in different rice
ecologies. Changes in the weed biogeography of agricultural systems are
inevitable under the influence of changing climate. It is predicted that
climate change can reduce the effectiveness of current weed management
practices. Agronomic practices
for particular crops are likely to change with time and space. New classes of
herbicides, cultivars, tillage systems, irrigation techniques and seed sowing
practices will influence the geographic distribution of weeds and their
invasiveness
