Pest/disease management

  • PDM-54, HUM 1, Dhauli, Sujata, Samrat, COGG 912 are tolerant varieties against Yellow Mosaic Virus.
  • Opt for Pusa-9072 for tolerance against powdery mildew
  • Opt for resistant varieties against Cercospora leaf spot (COGG 912, Kamdeva)
  • Drainage should be provided in the field to avoid seed rot.
  • Field sanitation, crop rotation, destruction of infected crop debris to check Cercospora leaf spot
  • Rogue out the infected plants and maintain field sanitation to check the leaf curl
  • To check Anthracnose, hot water seed treatment (at 58oC for 15 minutes) is effective in checking the seed-borne infection and increasing proportion of seed germination.
