Feed and water requirement
Goats eat a 400-500 grams of grain per day, while large meat goat and lactating dairy does require 2.0 – 2.5 kg of grains per day. In addition to this 2.0 – 2.5 kg of hay or forage requires per day and they should have access to a mineral block to meet the crucial nutrients.
Goats prefer clean, fresh,
and well-conserved forage. The feed is made up of about 74% tree and shrub leaves
and 26% grass. Goats daily need 24 hours’ access to freshwater and hay, as well
as a mineral nutrient. Pregnant and milking goats, require more
amount of hay and grain for feed.
