Spindle shaped spots on leaves

Discoloration and rotting due to Nodal blast
1. Leaf Blast:
A. Small
specks initially forms on leaves. Subsequently they enlarge into spindle shaped
spots (0.5-1.5 cm in length and 0.3-0.5 cm width).
B. The spots coalesce with each other and cover
entire leaf surface giving dried or burn appearance.
2. Neck Blast:
A. appears during panicle emergence stage.
B. Discoloration
and death of the neck region of the plant seen.
C. The
symptom spread to entire panicle and leads to chaffy grains.
3. Nodal Blast
A. The symptoms appear on nodes which turn into black color.
B. Rotting and breakdown at the nodal region due to rotting of the tissue is observed.
