Mulching
Rice straw could be used as mulch for other crops like maize, green gram,
black gram, chick pea etc. In one side,
it would improve crop yield in dry land and water stress condition by
conserving soil moisture and on the other hand, could save irrigation water. It
also helps to suppress growth of weeds and adds nutrients to the soil on
decomposition.
