Crop calendar for rice and other crops

  • Besides rice, ragi, maize, small millets, blackgram and redgram are grown in substantial area under rainfed condition during wet season. Rice-maize, rice-greengram, rice-chickpea, rice-horse gram, rice-castor, rice- linseed and rice-mustard are major cropping systems followed in the agro-climatic zone. Beside rice-based cropping systems, turmeric, ginger, sweet potato and cassava are major root and tuber crops are favorable crops of the region.

Drought, floods and acidity are major abiotic stresses influences the crop production in the region.
