Groundnut

Groundnut is the major oil seed crop that are used for direct human consumption as an oil and protein source. Groundnut seeds (kernels) contain about 40-50% oil, 26-28% protein, 10-20% carbohydrate in addition to vitamins and minerals. It is also fairly rich in calcium, iron and vitamin B complexes like thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin A. In Orissa about 60% of the total groundnut cultivation is done during rabi-summer season. But its productivity is low primarily due to its cultivation in acidic soils with low N, P, Ca, S, B besides inadequate organic matter. None of the sources of nutrients alone can meet the total plant nutrient need of crop adequately. Hence integrated use of nutrients in the form of organic and biofertilizer is the most efficient way to supply plant nutrients for sustained crop productivity and improved of soil fertility. Different bio-fertilizers that can be incorporated to increase yield of groundnut production are mentioned below :-

  1. Nitrogenous (N) bio-fertilizer
  2. Phosphatic (P) bio-fertilizer
  3. Potash (K) bio-fertilizer
