ClCC based schedule
Customized leaf colour chart (CLCC) is an effective, low-cost, easy to use diagnostic tool which can be used by the farmers to monitor the relative greenness of rice leaf as an indicator of the leaf N status and decide when and how much N should be applied to the crop.
Directions
for using LCC
- Monitor
leaf colour continuously from 28 DAS at a regular interval of 7 days till 1
week after panicle initiation
- Reading
should be taken in the morning (8-10AM) or in the afternoon (2-4 PM) preferably
by the same person.
- Leaf
colour should be measured under the shade of the body by placing the middle
part of the leaf on the top of the colour stripe for comparison care should be
taken to avoid direct sun light.
- Ten topmost fully expanded leaves should be selected randomly from disease-free rice plants or hills for taking LCC reading.
- If six or more leaves have reading below the critical LCC value apply N as per the recommendation mentioned in the over leaf.
- N @ 80-100 kg ha-1 to be applied in equal splits of 3 (33% each) on the basis of CLCC reading i.e. basal 33% N (7-10 DAS) followed by two applications of 33% each as and when colour of leaf ≤3.0 and ≤ 4.0 (for swarna type varieties with dark green foliage)
