Cultural Management

  • Deep ploughing of the orchard and exposing the soil to sunlight (May-June and Sept-October) minimize the incidence.
  • Layers should be prepared only from healthy plants.
  • The leaves should be checked regularly for symptoms over summer and autumn.
  • The infested branches should be cut off and burnt.
  • After harvesting in June, infested branches must be removed by pruning.
  • Infested leaves should be gathered and burnt or buried deep in the ground.
  • Just before flush/flower bud initiation, the affected shoots must be removed
