Chemical management
- Spray schedule is recommended as follows
- At flower bud initiation, carbaryl 3 g/lit
- At emergence of inflorescence stalks and before flower opening (anthesis), dimethoate 2 ml/lit or thiamethoxam 0.3 g/lit or imidacloprid 0.3 ml/lit
- During anthesis and pollination, insecticides should not be sprayed.
- When fruits are of pea size, phosphamidon 1 ml/lit or dimethoate 2 ml/lit or acephate 1g/lit
- Adding sulphur 3.5 g/lit to the insecticide based on need to check mites and sooty mould, Capnodium mangiferum
- Directing the spray first to stem/ trunk, then branches, twigs, leaves and finally on inforescence is a recommended method.
- Spray two rounds of
acephate 75 SP @ 1g/lit or phosalone 35 EC @ 1.5 ml/lit
- First spray at the
time of panicle emergence and second spray two weeks after first spray.
- Wettable sulphur @ 2 g/lit may be sprayed to
avoid mite resurgence.
- The mixture of toxaphene
with sulphur (1:1) is also effective against hoppers.
- Neem oil 5 ml/lit of
water can be mixed with any insecticides and sprayed
- Spray 3 per cent neem
oil or neem seed kernel powder extract 5 per cent
