Identification Symptoms
- Caterpillar bores into fruits at beak region, feeds inside reaching kernel causing secondary infection, which renders the fruit unsuitable for marketing or consumption.
- Bore holes are seen plugged with excreta.
- Castor shoot and capsule borer Conogethes punctiferalis is also known to bore into fruits when two fruits are seen attached together.
