Method of Application
Azospirillum culture + PSB
- 2-3 times thorough ploughing is done upto a depth of 20- 30 cm followed by 2-3 harrowing for proper tilth.
- At basal, FYM 10 t/ha neem or groundnut cake 200 kg/ha along with10 kg/ha each of Azospirillum and Phosphobacterium are applied around the plants after one month of planting.
- It is either planted on raised beds of 1m width and convenient length with 15 cm height or on ridges and furrows or in flat system.
- The spacing between the plants is
kept 30cmx15cm or 30cmx20cm (in beds), 40-60 cm x 25 cm(on ridges and in furrows)
and 50 cm x 15 cm (in flat system).
Azospirillum
- Small pits are made with a hand hoe on the beds with a spacing of 25 cm x 30 cm.
- Pits are filled with well decomposed cattle manure or compost, seed rhizomes are placed over it then covered with soil.
- FYM or compost @30-40 t/ha is applied by broadcasting and ploughing at the time of preparation of land or as basal dressing by spreading over the beds or in to the pits at the time of planting.
- Integrated application of coir compost @2.5 t/ha combined with FYM @2 t/ha, Azospirillum @5 kg/ha and half recommended dose of NPK is also recommended applied around the plants. Organic manures like oil cakes can also be applied @2 t/ha. In such case, the dosage of FYM can be reduced.
