Green gram
Green gram is the second most important group after cereals which fixes atmospheric nitrogen and can also be used as green manure. They are a good source of protein for a majority of the Indian populations. It contains 25% of high digestible proteins and consumed both as whole grain as well as split dal. Odisha covers total area of 8.36 lakh ha with average productivity 434 kg/ha. Moreover, phosphatic fertilizer prices also demand the need for recycling and exploitation of fixed phosphorus to improve crop production. Therefore, the current trend is to explore the possibility of supplementing fertilizers with organic manures and biofertilizers like:-
- Nitrogenous (N) bio-fertilizer
- Phospahtic (P) bio-fertilizer
- Potash (K) bio-fertilizer
