Azolla as green manure/ compost

• Azolla biomass is incorporated into the field by directly (10-15 t/ha) or dried form.
• When it is incorporated directly into the soil, it decomposes rapidly within 7-10 days. However, nitrogen availability extends from one week to ten weeks.
• Application of Azolla in the green from produces better results than dry form.
• Green manuring supplied 20-40 kg N/ha.
