Maize

Maize, is an important cereal crop, which is rich in nutrient, and  is used in animal feed as well as human dietary consumption. The maize production in India has been largely driven by the growing demand from the feed industry and various industrial usages. The utilization pattern of maize at present includes 52% as poultry feed, 24% as human food, 11% as cattle feed, about 13%  going towards industrial processing like starch and brewery and rest is used as seed, export and other purposes. Odisha produces 7.79 lakh tonnes of maize with a productivity of 2785 kg/ha. Due to the elevated toxic effects of chemical fertilizer, there is an urgent need for organic farming and cultivation. Various bio-fertilizers that are used to enhance yield are as mentioned below :- 

  1. Nitrogenous (N) bio-fertilizer 
  2. Phosphatic (P) bio-fertilizer
