Banana

Banana is used as a dessert fruit and its pseudo stem is a good source of fiber with numerous uses including manufacture of ropes, recycled paper, fabric and a variety of handicrafts. India being the largest producer of banana contributes 27% of world production, whereas Odisha's productivity is about 19.05 MT/ha. Chemical fertilizers are extensively used in banana crops which caused various threats to environmental, human, and soil health. Soil microorganisms play a significant role in regulating the dynamics of organic matter decomposition and the availability of plant nutrients. Hence, the application of biofertilizers in rice is becoming popular these days as an important alternative to chemical fertilizers.  On the basis of the application of bio-fertilizers, it can be broadly classified as:-

  1. Nitrogenous (N) bio-fertilizer
  2. Phosphatic (P) bio-fertilizer
  3. Potash (K) bio-fertilizer
