Biofertilizer is an important component of nutrient-smart technology and one of the suitable alternatives to chemical fertilizers. It is a substance that contains living micro-organisms that, when applied to seeds, plant surfaces, or soil, colonize the rhizosphere or the interior of the plant and promote growth by increasing the supply or availability of primary nutrients to the host plant. Moreover, it is also eco-friendly, less expensive, and hassle-free to use in different types of crops. The crops are broadly categorized into two groups:
